Welcome to the new gurgle community blog. We’ll be using this blog to keep you up to date with all the latest happenings in the gurgle community.
We thought we’d use this first entry to let you know what we’ve decided to do with regards to new chat areas.
A couple of weeks ago we sent an email out asking you what new chat forums you would like to see on gurgle. We had a lot of
really useful feedback and after taking it all on board and discussing it at length, we’ve decided to do the following:
1. We’re going to create three new chat forums. They are:
- Fun and Games
- Dads
- Losing a baby
Explanation: There were a lot of requests for a Dads forum and we’ve decided it’s about time we gave the men a place of their own! Similarly, we hope that the Fun and Games section will give you a place to be a bit more relaxed and light-hearted. The Losing a Baby forum is being created in response to users saying they felt uncomfortable talking about miscarriages and still births in any of the pregnancy and birth forums. One of the most important things to us here at gurgle is making sure that we provide spaces within the site for our users to discuss all aspects of pregnancy and parenting, including some of the more difficult and sensitive issues. We hope that the Losing a Baby forum will make it easier for people to find some comfort by talking about what they’ve been through here with other gurgle users.
2. We’re going to rename the ‘Work’ forum ‘Work and Finance’
Explanation: One of the suggestions we put forward in the email was a Family Finance section. This received a positive response, but having already identified the three new forums mentioned above as ‘must-haves’ on the site, we decided to put Finance in one of the existing forums so as not to completely swamp the chat area with new forums. If in a couple of months time it becomes obvious that this hasn’t worked or has made the Work forum less useful, we will then consider giving Finance its own place.
3. We’re going to create three groups. They will be:

Single parents
-
Step parents
-
Fashion & BeautyExplanation: There were many other great ideas put forward, but we were keen not to make too many sweeping changes at once, so instead of creating new forums we’re going to create some new groups around some of these topics. If those groups become really popular, then we’ll consider giving them a dedicated chat forum too.
The groups are live right now so please just click on the links above to join them.
The creation of the new forums and renaming mentioned in points 1 and 2 require a little bit more elbow grease from our technical team so will not be online for a little while yet, but rest assured they’re coming very soon and we’ll let you all know via this blog when they’re ready for your use... watch this space!
