How to remove a post from gurgle

We've had quite a few queries about how to delete posts from gurgle over the last couple of weeks, so it seemed like a good time to document exactly how this is done.

The first thing to note is that as a gurgle member you cannot delete any content from the site - that includes content you created yourself, so for example you can't delete a chat thread or blog post that you have created.

That doesn't mean it's stuck on the site forever though.

If you think something on gurgle breaks our rules (which you can read here) then please report it by clicking on the exclamation mark next to it. This will then be dealt with by a moderator, who will decide whether to delete it or keep it on the site.

However, if you would like us to consider deleting something which does not break our rules - this is most likely to apply to content you have created yourself - then please email community@gurgle.com with the link to the content and an explanation of why you would like it to be removed.

Generally speaking, we would rather not remove content which does not explicitly break the rules. One reason for this is that if you have created a chat thread and other people have taken the time to respond, it seems unfair to have to delete their posts too.

There are, of course, exceptions to this - some of which are unique to a pregnancy and parenting site. For example, if you have had a miscarriage and would like us to remove anything you previously posted on gurgle which may now cause you further distress, we will of course remove it. Similarly, if the post in question is likely to cause you personal danger, again we will delete without hesitation. Therefore it's very important to give us a full and frank explanation of the reasons why you need something deleted. If the reason is particularly personal, don't worry, we're not here to judge you, we just need full possession of the facts so we can take the appropriate action.

In light of the final point here, we would encourage you to exercise caution when posting anything on a public forum - either on gurgle or anywhere else. Remember that anything you post is viewable by anyone, anywhere in the world. If you are posting something especially controversial or personal, just take a moment before hitting the submit button to consider whether it may cause you embarrassment at a later date.

If you have any questions about any of this please feel free to post a comment below or email us at community@gurgle.com
